Abstract

The use of Drug Wipe Tests (DWT) for detecting psychotropic drugs in saliva is described. The DWTs supplied by Boehringer-Mannheim test for opiates, cocaine and cannabinoids and are based on a coloured reaction developed after chromatic and immunologic analysis. Saliva samples were tested from drug addicts who proved positive on urine analysis. Saliva samples were also analysed using standard screening methods. A good agreement was found between the DWT and standard screening methods.
