Abstract

A warning label on medication plays an important role in explaining to the patient the potential impairment of a drug on driving fitness. This paper reviews a study on the extent to which statutory regulations regarding the use of a warning labels exists at both the national - German - and the European level. The study did not investigate whether such a warning was necessary or not. Among the characteristics analysed were legibility, design and whether the directions stress patient comprehension of the warning texts. The aim was also to study current German warning texts in directions for use, with regard to the implementation of national requirements. Furthermore, the study tried to establish a relationship with European requirements.
