This report gives an overview of the subject of drugs and medicines in traffic. The following themes are dealt with: the severity of the problem of drugs and medicines in traffic; the influence of foreign substances on the human body; the substances and their effects on driving behaviour; legislation in this field; whether and how police can recognise drivers using (or having used) drugs; and means of drugs detection. In addition, recommendations are made for follow-up studies and for desired developments in the short term.
