Abstract

The VIIIth DSC conference, held in the "Carré des Sciences" of the French Ministry of Research, is again a gathering event between two communities: scientific researchers interested in drivers' behaviour and perception, and developers of technologies for the rendering of the behaviour and environment of vehicules. This last year have witnessed the appearance of high performance driving simulators. The new technologies bring greater performances and allow to go farther in the restitution of the movement. The multi-sensory and among them the visuo-vestibular integration with new scientific questions for which the study will be discussed by the conference speakers. This conference gives place to the study of simulation architecture and its perceptual studies, applications in training, infrastructure studies as well as in the industry will be present. Thus this DSC 2004 Conference will bring a panorama of the more recent results which the researchers and the engineers were able to obtain in the field of friving simulation.
