Abstract

The concepts of demand and supply functions is very essential for transportation analysis, planning and design. Based on these functions, the concepts of net social benefits from a transportation system are developed which consider flexible demand. For the constrained optimization problem of maximization of net benefits subject to various constraints on the system parameters, various duality results are obtained.
