Abstract

There is an obvious need for a continuous system to transport large numbers of passengers at speed of up to 10 mph over distances of up to 1 mile. The disadvantages of various system which have been proposed over the years to provide a high speed moving pavement are discussed. The principle of the operation of the S-Type Speedaway is described together with the ways in which this design overcomes the disadvantages of earlier proposals.
