Abstract
This report offers a summary of the main recent pedestrian facility research, development and implementation in the Netherlands. The research review covers Dutch pedestrian safety research in the 1984-1997 period. The information is presented under the following headings: (1) summary of pedestrian accident experience; (2) pedestrian crossings; (3) traffic calming for pedestrians; (4) children; (5) elderly traffic participants; (6) provisions for disabled pedestrians; and (7) car front impact requirements.
