Abstract

Traffic and transportation experts are most interested in commuter traffic. Leisure transport does not get much of attention from policymakers. Sustainable leisure transport is totally unknown to policymakers. Still there is a whole lot to gain. Four critical points for leisure transport are distinguished, based on several case studies. Improvement on those four points will optimise leisure transport. This will have positive effects on the environment. It will be a first step on the way to sustainable leisure transport.
