The introduction of new technologies in the society is a complex phenomenon. It is not easy to determine how the technological innovation process proceeds, which parties are involved and which factors play a role. Most of all newly developed technologies are not applied broadly. Also, new techniques for traffic and transport systems are not always used, even if they are maybe superior to existing techniques, such as the electric car, supersonic aircrafts, and the MAGLEV-train. At the same time, new technologies can contribute to the solution of durability problems, especially in traffic and transport. This project focuses on the analysis, description and design of the introduction of new technologies in the traffic and transport system. This study is limited to those technologies which can contribute potentially to the durable traffic and transport system, with emphasis on personal transport on land for the next fifty years.
