Abstract

The traffic information collection method based on Probe Vehicle (PV) which has the merits of low investment, high precision and timely processing will be favorable supplement of traditional methods. Relied on the Floating Vehicle Data (FVD) collection trial system, the paper starts with the definition of travel speed; then, a travel speed processing algorithm is putforwarded. Finally, four groups of field experiments were carried out to validate the model, and the travel speeds calculated by the algorithm werecompared with the speeds collected in the experiments. The results indicated the average accuracy of algorithm is over 90 percents, and the algorithm is capable of processing the real-time FVD into travel speed of road-segment simply and accurately.
