Abstract

More and more navigation systems are supplied with dynamic traffic information. In order to obtain an improvement in traffic flow a great number of drivers should be able to access dynamic traffic information. Within the scope of the MOBINET project in Munich, dynamic traffic information will be presented on a new generation of traffic signs. Graphical elements will be designed to represent complex information contents. Extensive research was needed to achieve a new quality of collective traffic information in an urban network. The most important aspects of the development of the new dynamic traffic information system are summarised.
