Abstract

This paper describes a dynamic radio zone system that combines multiple radio zones for use on roadways. The dynamic radio zone system makes it possible to flexibly control frequency resources and also reduces the numbers of handovers occurring in an ITS (Intelligent Transport System) communication system with continuous radio zones. If the radio zone could move along at nearly the same speed as vehicles traveling in the radio zone, then fewer handovers would occur. This paper defines a system for management of radio zones and dynamic radio zone movement and also presents characteristics of the proposed dynamic radio zone system.
