Abstract

The results of two full scale vehicle impact tests into the California Type 15 Bridge Barrier Rail are reported. Results indicated that this bridge rail design will retain and redirect a 4500 lb. passenger vehicle impacting at a 60 mph velocity and an angle of 15 degrees with tolerable deceleration rates, and moderate vehicle damage.
