Abstract

The results of four vehicle impact tests into metal beam guardrail using three types of posts and blocks, are reported. All four tests were conducted using 4960 lbs passenger cars with nominal impact speeds and angles of 65 mph and 25 degrees respectively. The results are discussed in this report and the California standard plans as well as the specifications have been revised to incorporate all the findings of this study.
