Abstract
Dynamic tests were carried out on standard and yielding seat belt restraint systems to evaluate and compare their performance. The seat belts were of the lap sash type with the lap straps attached to the seat. The yielding system had energy absorbers in the sash strap and seat anchorage. Test sled accelerations ranged from 120 to 240 m/s² with the standard belt and 300 m/s² with the yielding system.
