Abstract

The dynamic behaviour and handling characteristics of single track vehicles are significantly different during braking and acceleration. The linearised equations of motion for small perturbations from straight running for a variable speed situation are derived. Vehicle handling characteristics are evaluated using steering torque and steering stiffness values under braking an acceleration.
