Abstract

There is a need for a method that can provide insight into the parking need in the town centre during the day and with which the effects of different parking measures on this parking need can be calculated. It appears that the current 'static' methods are not appropriate for this. A parking simulation model can provide insight into the (changing) parking need. By means of a literature study, it is investigated to what extent a dynamic parking simulation model can offer a solution and which factors play a role in the development of this model. Two approaches to parking simulation are distinguished: a spatial and a non-spatial approach. The possibilities and limitations of both approaches are described.
