Abstract

In order to organise and regulate road traffic, it is now necessary to use traffic- related means of assessment and prediction with particular reference to noise, air pollution and fuel consumption. Measuring techniques are of relatively less interest than calculation methods which allow predictions about the effects of traffic organisation modifications. Impact studies on new roads have led to the development of good working tools for very major routes; however, these are insufficient for the regulation of existing road network.
