Abstract
The author is not talking about transport really - he is speaking about the kind of world sustainable transport might fit in. The large scale reconstruction of the Emscher river basin is an impressive undertaking: the redevelopment of the historic core area of heavy industry in the Ruhr. The creative approach used and the strong ecological `ideology' for the planning can perhaps inspire traffic planners who sometimes need a vision of the world to be served by traffic. (A)
