Abstract

Economic aspects of urban motorways are defined and the way a particular course of action is chosen is discussed. Particular reference is made to the part played by the market economy and by political processes. Proposals for improving present strategies are put forward. A study is made of the analytical processes that have been used and in particular cost-benefit analysis.
