Abstract
The estimation of cost of traffic accidents is useful to compare the cost of application of traffic engineering corrective measures with the savings in traffic accident costs and show the importance of accident prevention activities. Due to lack of knowledge of cost of road accidents in the country, economic justification of traffic engineering improvements cannot be precisely carried out. Hence, this study was undertaken to assess the cost of different types of traffic accidents in Delhi and also to find the limitations and malpractices in finalising traffic accident claims in terms of money.
