Abstract

This paper has argued that a consensus is currently emerging on a need for multimodal analysis of transportation issues which focus on a view of the transportation system as part of the productive sector of the overall economy, and that there is a scarcity of data, techniques, and trained manpower to address these issues. The paper has distinguished between the type of analyses performed in the past from those believed currently needed. It has also identified a classification scheme that can be used as a basis for approaching research agenda. (A)
