Abstract

Quarterly data on retail sales, bank deposits and advances, and employment were collected in Beenleigh. Analysis was carried out on a before and after basis. By comparing the quarterly retail sales figures classified by area, by type of establishment and by type of goods sold, with the corresponding Queensland figures conclusions are drawn with respect to the apparent effects that the bypass has had on the economy of the town of Beenleigh.
