Abstract

An attempt is to place the problem of traffic peaks in its context, to identify its economic aspects, and to propose a range of possible improvements.Certain aspects of traffic peaks (transport costs, the function of transport, pricing and comfort) are discussed. Seasonal, weekly and daily peaks are considered, both in urban and non-urban areas.
