Economics of road transport as affected by road classification.

Abstract

Development of New Zealand 's present road classification system (legal loadings) is reviewed. The effect of allowable loadings on transport costs, and the importance of these costs in the country's economy are discussed. Operationally desirable changes in load limitations are developed and the need for research effort demonstrated.
