Abstract

This paper briefly describes a new road safety educational programme which is to be introduced in Hungary. The main aim is to educate children and youngsters in order to safely participate in traffic. Schools are needed that develop the whole personality of children. The new National Curriculum describes what is to be taught in the Hungarian educational system. The schools can contribute to the physical and intellectual integrity of children by educating road safety. International cooperation between police forces all over the world is needed in order to prevent accidents involving children. The contribution of the Hungarian police to road safety education is also presented briefly.
