Abstract

A prompt return of the injured or disabled individual to such a level of production, contribution, and involvement with society as the injury or disability will permit, is necessary. That level usually implifies independence and mobility. Therefore, the indicated rehability efforts will involve the education or the re-education in the skills needed for operation of a motor vehicle. One of the approaches to the challenge of teaching the handicapped to drive, the Veteran Administration Program, is outlined.
