Abstract

Subjective safety of elderly people in their living environment is studied. Factors which can influence this subjective safety are aspects of space, function and maintenance. The social and cultural climate of the area is also important. It is shown that the composition of the population of the area is the most important on the perception of safety, influenced by the increasing criminality and violence.
