Abstract

Essential parts of the bicycle are the tyres. They form the link between the vehicle and the road. An overview is given of the history of the tyre, its function and the therewith related requirements for construction. The material rubber gets many attention. A very complicated product as the bicycle tyre, which is also of good quality, can not be bought for a mere song.
