Abstract

Since the development of the Dutch National Model System (NMS) in the mid-1980's, a number of other disaggregate model structures have been constructed in Europe to predict future passenger transport at the national scale. Within the European Union (EU) EXPEDITE project, five of these models, in combination with an existing European model, will be used to yield forecasts for the whole of the EU. The model systems are those for the Netherlands, Norway, Italy, Denmark and Sweden. This paper provides a comparison of these five models. (A)
