Abstract

An integral assessment for new train stations : the case of Breda Oost. This paper presents an assessment which aims at improving the quality of decision-making with regard to new train stations. A critical analysis has shown that the current assessment of the Ministry of Transport, Publics Works and Water Management no longer meets the contemporary policy context. Based on the defects ascertained an instrument has been developed with which - with the help of several methods - the wider transport-related and spatial implications of a station can be evaluated. The integrated assessment proposed here applies to the spatial policy of the urban networks where a structuring role is assigned to transport nodes. Besides, with a simple process design it is tried to direct the initiating parties positively in their design options. This way this tendency is in line with another tendency, namely decentralization of powers in building regional infrastructure. (Author/publisher)
