Abstract

In 2000, the Dutch Railway company (NS) started a mission to focus its core activity on 'the development of junctions and transportation in between them'. The purpose of this mission is to attract more and more satisfied passengers. NS has interpreted customer demands, demands of the government, and the market development into a view on the railway transport for the coming 20 years: the product view 2010-2020: on track of the passenger. This paper attends to the way the product view meets government policies mentioned in the National Traffic and Transport Plan (NVVP) and the fifth Note for the Randstad. The papers shows how to interpret existing and new junctions in the Delta metropolis ('Deltametropool') towards connecting developments.
