Abstract

Discussion of the Philips-Stirling hot air engine. In this new type of engine the pistons are moved by hot gasses in stead of by burning hydrocarbon mixtures. The engine can be made big enough to move a lorry, ship or bus. Heat problems are discussed and its applications are described.
