Abstract

The central theme of this paper was the question of how to improve the safety of children going to school as pedestrians or on bicycle. Examples from practice are given to show how a study into safer routes to school can be set up. Attention is paid to the detection of bottlenecks in the routes to school and in the environment of the school, and also to the analysis of the results and the translation of the research results into real measures for improvement.
