Abstract

On many road stretches, especially within built-up areas, the situation does not fully satisfy with regard to traffic and/or sojourning purposes. The cause of this is that task, form and use of such a road stretch do not match. To be able to analyse a situation in this respect the three aspects mentioned should be scored on one common (ordinal) scale; by doing this separately from a traffic and from a sojourning point of view, the various scores may be presented graphically in a two-dimensional frame of reference. In this way, a handy instrument can be obtained to use in preparing traffic plans and priority schemes.
