Abstract

A survey was conducted into the accuracy of speed measurement of cars by means of a car-following-method. The method remains valid for speeds up to at least 70 km /h, provided sufficient length for the following car to reach that speed and follow at that speed for some time. Under the most favourable condition it is possible to measure 90% of the variance of speed changes of the leading car.
