Abstract

The eCall-system needs side services to keep it known among road-users and maintained financially and technologically in the long run. EETU-serviceby the Finnish Road Enterprise (owner), WMdata (software) and WSP LT Consultants (coordination and research), is a concept for LBS informing car drivers about road weather and traffic conditions that includes not only information from road authorities but also a strong peer-to-peer community element. However, the technology or even the new kind of service architecture are not the key issues but the business model that includes several business actors but also a public-private-partnership-model, not to mention the research on the psychological and social meaningfulness of the deliveredroad information among end users. Currently the EETU concept is used in the VARO+ service. For the covering abstract see E134653.
