Abstract

The aggregates included in the test strip program represent a cross section of the rock types commonly used in the wearing surfaces of pavement in Pennsylvania. The aggregates have been determined. Continued exposure to traffic and period skid testing should provide an evaluation of the skid-resistance potential of many of the rock formations in pennsylvania. Suitable aggregate specifications can then be prepared that provide adequate skid resistance throughout the life of the pavement.
