Abstract

This paper describes tests designed to determine whether alprenotol, an adrenergic beta-receptor antagonist used in the treatment of certain heart disorders, would affect cardiac action precipitated by the stress of driving and whether it could impair driving when taken alone or in combination with alcohol. The alprenolol does not significantly impair performance nor worsen the effects of alcohol.
