Abstract

Three experiments examined the effect of context on the representativeness ordering of exemplars of a category. In this paper one aspect of the problem of understanding how people resolve anaphoric references in the study of text comprehension is addressed. How people use information from semantic memory in establishing the referent of an anaphoric expression.
