Abstract

This paper describes a series of experiments carried out to determine the effectiveness of using front lights and rear lights during daytime for improving motorcycle noticeability. The results of these experiments indicate that daytime use of motorcycle headlamps significantly increases noticeability of the motorcycle by other motorists. However, the relative effectiveness is substantially greater in cloudy weather than in clear weather.
