Effect of hitchpoint lateral stiffness on trailer stability.

Abstract

The effect on trailer stability of hitch point lateral stiffness and damping is examined by means of a simplified model. The analysis shows that increasing hitch point lateral stiffness does not improve trailer stability whereas increasing hitch point lateral damping is much more important to trailer stability.
