Abstract

In this paper, the service of the information presentation of the obstacle to the driver to prevent collision is described. According to this service, the driver can stop the vehicle in front of the obstacle without a delay of notice of the obstacle. The effect of this service is evaluated by the real time simulator equipped with the 3 dimensional display. From the simulation results, the following results described below are found. The distance Lr from the obstacle, at which the driver really starts to reduce the speed, is increased by information presentation. The information presentation is effective to prevent the collision. Lr is roughly proportional to the speed in the visible region. This shows the value of Lr is decided by the driver perception of the first order of speed V. There is a difference of the driving pattern when the different kind of information is given the driver in the invisible region. By the information of obstacle, the lateral change of vehicle becomes smaller in the curve region of the road.
