Abstract

Results of a study to examine the immediate and long-term effects of kerved median strips on accident rates on main roads in the urban areas of Sydney and Newcastle are presented. At traffic signal controlled intersections, accident rates decreased significantly as a result of the construction of the kerved median strips.
