Abstract

Young drivers are particularly likely to be involved in alcohol related accidents.Other studies suggest that this is not because young drivers drink and drive more frequently or at higher BACS than older drivers. One possible explanation for this is that inexperienced drivers are more susceptible to the effects of alcohol on driving. The effect of lack of driving experience on involvement in alcohol related ac- cidents using Victorian accident data 1977- 1981 is examined.
