Abstract

This is an account of longitudinal force effect on tire cornering stiffness. Some corresponding relations among longitudinal force, contact pressure distribution and effective cornering stiffness based on the Unified Tire Model are presented. Suggestions for building semi-empirical models are discussed. Some calculation results based on this theory are validated against experimental data. (A)
