Abstract

There are a number of considerations relevant to evaluating the choice of minimum legal drinking age. Results of this study indicates that one of the considerations should be the effect of a minimum legal drinking age choice on the rate at which youthful drivers become involved in serious auto accidents. Increasing alcohol availability to 16-20 year olds through minimum legal drinking age reduction exacerbates this age group tendency in a relative dangerous fashion.
