Abstract

Investigations into the problem of visual attention and reaction as applied to drivers of vehicles and trains, and the system by which a pattern or sequence of visual messages received can be processed are discussed. Attention is paid to the "single-channel" hypothesis as a basis for understanding driver behaviour.
