Abstract

The surface roughness of a road may significantly affect the behaviour of a vehicle and the driver. Merely being able to describe road roughness is not enough; it is necessary to establish a correlation between the measured roughness of a road surface and the penalties imposed on the driver-vehicle system as a consequence of using the rough road.
