Abstract
In Curitiba, Brazil, a processor-controlled traffic system has been installed by Philips, the first phase of which was completed in 1978. Its impact on traffic flow, the savings in time and fuel consumption and the economic value of these savings are evaluated in a report issued by the City of Curitiba, the most relevant parts of which are cited in this article.
